DEUTSCHE BANK LUXEMBOURG S.A.
Since the creation of Deutsche Bank Luxembourg S.A. in 1970, our institution has evolved successfully over forty years and, at the same time, has placed emphasis on cultural matters in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. Our cultural action experiences a culmination with the building on Plateau Kirchberg, designed by Professor Gottfried Böhm in an open and communicative way, which the bank moved into in autumn 1991. The expressive architecture made of steel, glass and concrete constitutes the frame and underlines the ambition for our social commitment. The art collection, assembled over the years specifically for this building, strongly shapes the atmosphere in our institution. It obtains its unique and individual note in the context of the light-flooded building.
In order to build the bank’s collection, the motto “Kunst am Arbeitsplatz” (art at the place of work) of Deutsche Bank AG’s first art concept has been pursued. For Luxembourg, the choice mainly focuses on paintings, gouaches, watercolours, drawings, prints, photographies and sculptures (mostly from the end of the seventies up until now) from artists of the german-speaking region. In our regular exhibitions, artists from the collection are being introduced and current trends of the art world are being presented. Through nearly 40 temporary exhibitions, Deutsche Bank Luxembourg succeeded in introducing new aspects of contemporary art to a broad public and giving a new face to the building during several weeks.
With the objective of engaging with contemporary art’s creative potential outside of the working environment, Deutsche Bank Luxembourg supports Mudam since its opening in summer 2006. We consider Mudam, situated closely to our building, with its growing collection of international contemporary art, as a communicative forum mediating diverse stimuli and thought-provoking impulses as well as completing optimally the Deutsche Bank AG’s new global art concept, “Art Works”.
In addition to our own institution, we treasure the Mudam as an impressive meeting place gathering artists, art friends and decision-makers from the economy and other social areas.
We look forward to future exhibitions and art discoveries at Mudam.
