ANDREAS GURSKY

Andreas Gursky (1955) travels around the world in search of subjects incarnating “Zeitgeist”. Generally of large size and of confusing precision, his photographies are monumental portraits of consumerism and globalisation: a stock market, a supermarket, factories… "What ultimately interests me is not inventing reality but reality itself. The fact of enhancing it, sometimes accentuating it, seems to me to be legitimate. I do this in such a way that no image appears to have been reworked (...) but nothing was how it appears here. These images are completely artificial."
