Opened in July 2006, Mudam (Museum of Contemporary Art in Luxembourg) will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a continuous programme of events: 2 days and 1 night of concerts, performances, lectures, workshops, tours, exhibitions, screenings... 10 years represent an opportunity to return to the many ties established with artists and to focus on an eclectic and surprising cultural programme. The public will be invited to undergo original experiences over a period of 31 hours for an unforgettable birthday.

Since the opening of the museum in 2006, the Mudam cultural project has been based on a conception of art seen as a way of looking at the world by keeping a poetic distance, all with a touch of humour.

With a dozen exhibitions per year - big thematic exhibitions, major solo shows, original projects developed in close collaboration with artists - numerous partnerships with institutions worldwide (Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington; Artsonje Center, Seoul; Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; Musée des arts et métiers, Paris; Whitechapel Gallery, London, etc.) have been initiated.

The building, designed by the Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, instigates a marvelous dialogue with its natural and historical environment. Standing on the remains of Fort Thüngen, following the course of its ancient walls, it is located within the Dräi Eechelen Park, located at the entrance of the Kirchberg Plateau, close to the European district and the Philharmonie. The museum boasts nearly 3000 m2 of space to be visited with six exhibition galleries. Characterized by its imposing atrium, the Grand Hall is the core of the museum and regularly hosts ambitious installations devised in response to Ieoh Ming Pei’s architecture.
