RECOVERING

SOUNDSCAPES & VIEWS
30/07/2011 - 08/10/2011
Vernissage 30/07/2011 16h00

It is a spectacular piece of landscape right in the midst of the city of Luxembourg - the Park Dräi Echeelen, situated behind the Philharmonie, the Hôtel Meliã and Mudam on the fringes of the Kirchberg district, with the old forts Thüngen and Obergrünewald and a striking view of the old part of the city. Long phases of construction and time-consuming restructuring have partly erased this formerly much visited area from people’s collective memory.

In the summer of 2011, the Park Dräi Eechelen will be revitalised by the project RECOVERING - Soundscapes & Views: four sound installations created specifically for this venue by the Luxembourg composer and artist Steve Kaspar (accessible from 30 July to 8 October from 10am to 8pm each day) and live interventions with music, dance and performances every second Saturday will encourage visitors to take walks, go on day trips, have picnics and make exciting discoveries.

RECOVERING - Soundscapes & Views will guide them towards new ways of approaching new and old architecture and give the opportunity to experience the park’s eloquent redesign by the French landscape artist Michel Desvigne. The name of the project is deliberately ambiguous - you are warmly invited to recover in one of the most beautiful parks in Luxembourg, to take part in the healing process of a long-term construction site and to rediscover a city quarter in its remodelled state.
