Katinka Bock’s sculptures and installations exist in intermediate, transient, precarious states. Made from materials such as clay, stone, wood, copper, fabric and water, they result from simple gestures, directly legible in the form or on the surface of the work: folding, winding, moulding, scoring, rubbing, balancing, falling, etc. Often, they involve physical processes such as heating, evaporation, flow circulation and the alteration of materials confronted with the external environment. Multiple exchanges thus take place between the sculpture, the body, the exhibition space and the surrounding world. This large-scale exhibition is the first by the artist to be devised for several museums, involving a vocabulary of forms which fill the different spaces.
