João Penalva

03/03/2018 - 16/09/2018

João Penalva’s artworks employ a wide variety of supports and materials. They are presented in the form of large installation setups as well as more intimate pieces in which image, text and sound, language and memory co-exist to create poetic fictions that leave plenty of room for interpretation.

No Man’s Land

17/05/2018 - 06/01/2019

Sanctuarization is one of the answers to ecological concerns about natural territories: those intended as such, but also those resulting from effects induced by military or political situations. These are all situations aiming to regulate the impact of human presence on the nonhuman living space which today strongly modify the cultural imagination, requiring us to re-examine the state of our sensitivity towards the natural world.

Jeff Wall

06/10/2018 - 18/02/2019

A major figure in the art of recent decades, since the late 1970s Jeff Wall has been developing artwork that has profoundly changed the way we look at the photographic medium. By embracing it within an enlarged pictorial tradition and thinking of it in terms of its relations with other arts - painting in particular, but also cinema, literature and theatre - he has redefined its essence and opened up what is possible. This large-scale exhibition brings together some thirty recent and older pieces by the artist.
