MEET THE ARTIST CHAD MCCAIL

Within the framework of EXPÉRIENCE MUSÉE 2012

The workshop with Chad McCail will be an illustrated lecture examining Stanley Milgram’s obedience experiments of the early 1960s and considering some possible answers to the questions the results of his experiments raise. This will also involve the work of Austrian analyst Wilhelm Reich, and educationalists John Taylor Gatto and A.S. Neil, founder of Summerhill School.Throughout it will be illustrated by examples of McCail’s work, which has largely been an effort to explore the questions raised by Milgram’s experiments. The artist will show how his work has developed both technically and theoretically, explaining why one work led to another and how a contemporary artist approaches social issues in his work.
