Nach seiner Eröffnung im Juli 2006, feiert das Mudam, Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Luxemburg, sein zehnjähriges Bestehen mit einem umfassenden Veranstaltungsprogramm: 2 Tage und 1 Nacht mit Konzerten, Performances, Vorträge, Workshops, Führungen, Ausstellungen, Projektionen ... 10 Jahre Mudam bietet die Möglichkeit, die vielen Beziehungen mit Künstlern aufleben zu lassen und das eklektische und überraschende Kulturprogramm hervorzuheben. Das Publikum ist eingeladen während 31 Stunden an einer außergewöhnlichen Jubiläumsfeier teilzunehmen.

Seit der ersten Stunde besteht der Kulturbegriff des Mudams auf einem Verständnis von Kunst als Möglichkeit, die Welt mit poetischer Distanz und einem humorvollen Augenzwinkern zu betrachten.

Jedes Jahr finden im Mudam rund zehn Ausstellungen statt, darunter große thematische Ausstellungen, umfangreiche Monografien und innovative Projekte, welche in Zusammenarbeit mit den Künstlern erarbeitet werden. Weiterhin pflegt das Museum eine Vielzahl von Partnerschaften mit Kunstinstitutionen aus aller Welt (Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington; Artsonje Center, Séoul; Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; Musée des arts et métiers, Paris; Whitechapel Gallery, London und viele mehr).

Im Dialog mit seiner natürlichen und historischen Umgebung, ruht das Gebäude des chinesisch-amerikanischen Architekten Ieoh Ming Pei auf den Ruinen des Fort Thüngen und folgt in seiner Form den einstigen Grundmauern der Anlage. Das Museum liegt inmitten des Park Dräi Eechelen, welcher sich in unmittelbarer Nähe des Zugangs zum Kirchberg- Plateau, den europäischen Institutionen und der Philharmonie befindet.

Der öffentlich zugängliche Museumsbereich ist fast 3.000 m. groß und umfasst sechs Ausstellungsgalerien. Mit ihrem charakteristischen Glasdach bildet die Grand Hall gleichsam das Herzstück des Museums und wird regelmäßig mit monumentalen Installationen, im Zusammenspiel mit der Architektur von Ieoh Ming Pei, bespielt.
